DONALD TRUMP is officially a badass...

Let me start off by saying that I CANNOT STAND ROSIE O'DONNELL. Why does she open her mouth! NO ONE cares what she has to say! "Earlier today, Rosie attacked Trump, branding him a "snake-oil salesman" and calling his staging of a press conference, in which he decided to allow Miss USA, Tara Conner to keep her crown a publicity stunt. Trump allowed Conner to keep her title Tuesday following a wave of reports and criticism over her engagement in underage drinking."------"In turn, Trump, who became aware of the Rosie comments earlier this morning, branded her "a loser." "Rosie's been a loser for a long time," he told Access. Her magazine failed, she got sued. She folded up like a tent."----""Rosie is somebody out of control who really just doesn't have it and she ought to be careful because I'll send one of my friends to pick up her girlfriend and I think it would be very easy," he said."

Iran now a nuclear power....and more menacing remarks

AhMADinejad threats

"During a speech delivered in the Western Iranian province of Javanroud, Iranian President AhMADinejad said: " The Islamic Republic of Iran is now a nuclear power, thanks to the hard work of the Iranian people and authorities."

In recent days, the US military has begun to build up forces around the Gulf, in what is being seen as as a warning to Iran.

"The Iranian president began the speech by saying that "the powerful Iranian nation resists bullying powers and will defend its rights, including the right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology," the IRNA said."-Ynetnews

"The oppressive powers will disappear while the Iranian people will stay. Any power that is close to God will survive while the powers who are far from God will disappear like the pharaohs," he said Wednesday, according to Iranian news agencies."

"Today, it is the United States, Britain and the Zionist regime which are doomed to disappear as they have moved far away from the teachings of God," he said in a speech in the western town of Javanroud.

"It is a divine promise." -Breitbart

Just when you thought I was done with BRAND NEW

First of all, let me say that if you have not gotten Brand New's "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me", you are severely missing out. Of course it is not as big of a change as it was going from "Your Favorite Weapon" to "Deja Entendu", but this is a wonderful, heartfelt record and you need to hear it.

So rumor has it that the song "Limousine" off of TDAGARIM is about This Story.OUCH.

52 New Species Found in Borneo

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
This isn't the kind of news I usually post about, but I personally think this is awesome. "More than 50 new species of animals and plants that have never been seen before have been discovered in a 'Lost World' on the island of Borneo in just 18 months, say scientists." "Among them are two tree frogs, a whole range of plants and trees and 30 brand new types of fish including a tiny one less than a centimetre long and a catfish with an adhesive belly that allows it to stick to rocks." Labels want a cut !

New York Times have posted a great story on the state of the music biz right now.

"Lately, the major labels have in effect tried to move into the talent management business by demanding that new artists seeking record contracts give their label a cut of concert earnings or T-shirt and merchandise revenue — areas that had once been outside the labels’ bailiwick."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"There has also been a scramble to squeeze revenue from other unconventional sources, including amateur videos posted to YouTube that incorporate copyrighted songs. Universal Music threatened to withhold its huge music catalog from Microsoft’s new digital music service unless it received a royalty of more than $1 on each sale of the technology giant’s Zune portable music player." Fall Out Boy talks to Billboard...

"Fall Out Boy says its third album, "Infinity on High," will surprise its fans -- but hopefully in a good way. Guitarist Patrick Stump tells Billboard.com that the Chicago band's second major label album, the follow-up to 2005's double-platinum "From Under the Cork Tree," cuts a broader swath of styles and flavor than its predecessors.

"From song to song there's a completely different feel, but they all make sense in context," Stump explains. "They've got a few common points, but overall there's a lot of different voices and perspectives and styles. It would be dishonest for us to hold back any of these elements."

Fall Out Boy is telegraphing those new directions with the album's first single, the funky "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race," which was released on Nov. 21 and played live at the American Music Awards ceremony. "It's basically a hip-hop/R&B song, but written as a punk song," says Stump, who came up with the groove while he was doing some production work for Gym Class Heroes.

Stump says he was particularly surprised by some "borderline classic rock" sounds the quartet came up with for the album, which is due Feb. 6 via Island. There's also greater use of piano, he says, as well as strings and horns, though he claims that "we were really restrained about it. At the end of the day the core of the songs is just four guys -- drums, bass and two guitars -- playing. They're just rock songs."

"Infinity on High," which takes its title from a letter Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother, also features guest appearances by Jay-Z, who introduces one track, and guitar solos on another by Panic! At the Disco's Ryan Ross and New Found Glory's Chad Gilbert."-Billboard

Life on Mars?

Life on Mars?

NASA announced today that deposits seen in gullies suggest that water carried sediments through them within the past few years. "These observations give the strongest evidence to date that water still flows occasionally on the surface of Mars," said Michael Meyer, lead scientist for NASA's Mars Exploration Program, Washington."

"These fresh deposits suggest that at some places and times on present-day Mars, liquid water is emerging from beneath the ground and briefly flowing down the slopes. This possibility raises questions about how the water would stay melted below ground, how widespread it might be, and whether there's a below-ground wet habitat conducive to life. Future missions may provide the answers," said Malin."-RedOrbit

Chan-Wook Strays

I'm a cyborg,but that's ok
Park Chan-Wook,director of "Oldboy"-among many others, strays from his normal violent type of movie with his new film "I'm A Cyborg, But That's OK"." "Believe it or not, I made this film." Park, who studied philosophy, said that the film deals with the "purpose of existence", but rather than letting rational thinking people like doctors determine what and how, he explores "how to live" and love through a girl who thinks she's a cyborg and a boy who believes that he can steal human qualities. Park's unique approach includes forgoing the usual drab clinical look generally associated with mental institutions to create a colorful setting which he says supports the story and the characters."

Gibson's APOCALYPTO

Here are bits and pieces of Varety's review of Mel Gibson's new epic Apocalypto.

Time to Forgive but not forget?

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

"Mel Gibson is always good for a surprise, and his latest is that "Apocalypto" is a remarkable film. Set in the waning days of the Mayan civilization, the picture provides a trip to a place one's never been before, offering hitherto unseen sights of exceptional vividness and power. In the wake of its director's recent outburst and unwanted publicity, commercial prospects remain anyone's guess, and those looking for a reason not to attend will undoubtedly find one, be it Gibson's tirade, the gore, the subtitles or outre subject matter. But blood-and-guts action audiences should eat this up."

"The greatest mystery surrounding the Mayan civilization is why it collapsed so suddenly. Gibson adroitly lines his film with hints of the numerous possible causes, including famine, disease, drought, increased warfare, a corrupt ruling class and general societal breakdown. A bedraggled group of emaciated natives is glimpsed moving through the forest early on, and the prisoners later pass by a haunted girl with "the sickness" who warns about the coming "blackness of day."

"Production is a wonder. Dean Semler's camera moves relentlessly through the densest of foliage and over the roughest of terrain on locations near Veracruz and in the rainforests of Catemaco, with some additional shooting done in Costa Rica and the U.K.; Gibson clearly knew the impact the lenser of the second and third "Mad Max" films could deliver. More remarkable still is that pic was shot on the new high definition Genesis camera system. Without a doubt, "Apocalypto" is the best-looking big-budget film yet shot digitally; one can't tell it wasn't shot on film."
