Now, first of all, I love Daniel Dumile-aka Mf Doom and think he is crazy talented.
But this kind of bums me out. Why not just cancel the show?--
"The co-owner of San Francisco club the Independent got a call from underground rapper MF Doom's agent mid-afternoon on August 15, saying the masked MC was likely too sick to make his scheduled performance that evening. Later, though, the agent called back and reversed course: Doom was good to go. But when the rapper finally took the stage at 11:45 that night, many in the audience did a double take. That's Doom?"------
"I went up to the sound guy about two songs deep and said, 'No one can hear Doom's mic.' He looked at me and said straight-up, 'I know. His mic's not on, and that's not MF Doom.'"----
"Regardless, Doom's name is tainted. Lip-synching is bad enough—the possibility that he sent a replacement may sound deliciously Andy Kaufman–esque to some, but the majority of his devotees aren't laughing. "Doom just totally shit on his fan base," says Pete Babb, who also performed at the ill-fated show under his DJ moniker, Enki."

Did you know that any EMI Music File you download off of I-Tunes has your email and name embedded with it? "And the "open" MP3s soon to be sold by Universal through Rhapsody and other outlets contain watermarked data that identify each song's title and artist." Soon enough, labels will be able to track down where that hot new single you just copped, originated from. Read more of this story at WIRED.

Been a fan of these guys for years. Their new album is the most anticipated release this year for me. AILD go big budget. Head over to the Headbangers Ball Blog to see their new video for the song "Nothing Left". New album "An Ocean Between Us" drops August 21st. Metal/Core has become really stale and boring but these guys keep it fresh. For me anyway. Hear a few new tracks at their myspace as well!

A LONG blog post has been going around the net since yesterday. The author(Ramsey Dean) is an ex employee of Victory Records.
It was first sent to Jason Tate and the gang over at AbsolutePunk.Net, but was taken down soon after it was put up. The boys at Decoymusic.com currently have it posted. A pretty interesting read for sure. The post can be read HERE, but I will also put some quotes up below:
"We’d all seen Brummel threaten people, both physically and, his favored form of communication, e-mail. In person he wasn’t intimidating. He didn’t appear to break 5’7” and I doubt he weighed in over 150 lbs. To compensate for this, he inked up with a bunch of tattoos including the cobweb on the elbow and “Victory” tattooed on his forearm and across his back as if it were a gang sign. Something by his own admission, he did within the course of a year when the hardcore bug hit him. To further project the image, he was a skinhead, which he shaved almost daily to obscure his receding hairline. The remnants of a chubby childhood still lurked in his face and his belly, leading me to believe his bullying attitude was programmed many years ago at the hands of a schoolyard oppressor."
"Just about every interaction turned into a crisis, with him yelling, threatening and screaming in a frantic rage that the sky was falling."
"The phone rang all day. Tim Smith, who managed Atreyu, the company’s third biggest band said they’d hired Marty “Mad Dog” Singer, a Hollywood lawyer with an A-list of clients that included Arnold Schwarzenegger and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Atreyu’s accountant turned up over $700,000 in unpaid royalties and they wanted answers"
"“As for Ne-yo, the name of the game is to decrease the chances of a sale here. If you were to pick up handful of Ne-yo CDs, as if you were about to buy them, but then changed your mind and didn't bother to put them back in the same place, that would work. Even though this record will be heavily stocked and you might not be able to move all the stock, just relocating a handful creates issues: Even though the store will appear to be out of stock, the computer will see it as in stock and not re-order the title once it sells down and then Ne-Yo will lose a few sales later in the week”"
It's easy to jump on the hating boat, but with all this, it's hard not too. Wow, I wonder if this will hurt him at all? Sucks for all the new hopeful bands that get signed. Lots more at the link!

Speaking about the cover of the new Smashing Pumpkins single, "Tarantula", Corgan replied: "Actually the original idea was we were gonna see if Lindsey, Britney and Paris would all shoot. But ultimately we decided that that was probably gonna be too prohibitive 'cause then you would get into, like, those girls fighting amongst each other. Paris I knew personally, and hung out with her a few times, and so I asked her. I said, 'Would you be willing to do this?' And God bless her, she came, she showed up at 10:00 a.m. on a Sunday morning, sat in the chair, got made up and shot her. So anybody who thinks that those aren't real photos, those are real. We took those photos." source: blabbermouth

Ok, so I, like millions of others, hate it when one of your favorite bands gets big and "everyone" knows about them. Fall Out Boy is a perfect example. When I picked up FOB's "Take This To Your Grave" a few years ago, I was hooked. Fantastic album. "From Under the Cork Tree" comes out. Again, great album. Few months go by and all of a sudden I hear FOB on the radio!??!!! It happens folks. Hate them all you want. Just don't go to their shows or support them in any way. Easy as that.--------- Of course I wasn't there, but more than likely this little punk deserved every bit of the beating he got:
"According to a Schuba's patron — who requested anonymity — in between songs during FOB's set, "a guy started calling Pete a sell-out, asking him 'Where's [girlfriend] Ashlee [Simpson]?' and making fun of his hoodie."
"Wentz apparently laughed the incident off — and even engaged in a little good-natured jawing with the heckler — but when FOB exited the club's tiny stage, things quickly sparked back up again."
""They did their last song, walked off the stage and headed toward a side door to go out onto the sidewalk. But that's when the scuffle happened," the concertgoer told MTV News. "The crowd surged back, then snapped forward. From my vantage point, I could see Fall Out Boy security was pounding on the guy. The guy was down on floor, shirt ripped, bleeding from ear and nose. There was a lot of blood."
From there, FOB were escorted out of the club, and the heckler "was helped up by his friends." According to the concertgoer, Chicago police were called to the scene, though it wasn't clear if any charges were filed; at press time, the Chicago Police Department had not granted MTV News' requests for information on the incident."
""The truth is on the way out the door I had to pass directly next to the guy and I knew it, so I kept my head down and walked out. As I did, the guy reached out and grabbed me and said something I couldn't really hear — it was a glorious use of the English language, though," he continued. "As he grabbed me, I punched him. Yell all you want at me, say whatever, but in a situation like that I will defend myself. After that, of course, it got chaotic, [but] we have several independent witnesses that gave statements saying he grabbed me first ... I am not worried over the outcome, as I was clearly in the right. Anything anyone else is saying or writing is simply not true."

"The Physics of Fire"-the new album from Becoming the Archetype.I have to say that I cannot wait to pick this up on may 8th. Admit it folks. Metal is becoming pretty bland and saturated with copy-cats. To me, these guys give metal a bit of freshness. It's no secret that ALOT of people are now downloading legally and illegally. I am for sure one of those people.(Legally of course) But this album will definately be bought and will be BLASTED the whole way home. Make your way over to their MYSPACE to hear most of the new songs. Watch em play Ex Nihilo live:

I really recommend you checking out the Minnesota band-Tapes 'N Tapes-If you haven't done so already. You can sample a few songs over at their MYSPACE page. I recently was made aware that they are one of the bands on the new 2Ksports MLB 2K7 baseball game for Xbox 360.
Check out this video of the boys strolling through the streets of Paris singing "Insistor".
