Chris Daughtry Joins All American Rejects...

Daughtry All American Rejects

Ok, not really, I'm just kidding. It's just funny though-to hear the rumors or the facts that get misconstrued. The other day I was approached by a customer(i work for a big music and movie merchandising company)and he asked: "Hey man, where's the new All American Rejects album with Chris Daughtry as the singer?" I laughed for a bit and then looked at him and realized that he was totally serious and I felt bad for laughing at him. Chris and his band- that is so perfectly named DAUGHTRY has put up some song samples from the upcoming album. Hear them HERE.

Anime Throwback...

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Head over to Teleport City for an in-depth review of the great anime flick Lupin the 3rd: Castle of Cagliostro. I'll put up bits and pieces of it here. "People who are not familiar with the character of Lupin the Third are still likely to have heard of and perhaps even seen this movie thanks entirely to its being the feature film directorial debut of Hayao Miyazaki. Even many non-anime, non-animation moviegoers know Miyazaki's name thanks to the man having single-handedly directing more "timeless classics" than the entirety of the Disney animation studios. These films include My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Kiki's Delivery Service, and more recent films like Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. Several of his films (most notable Mononoke and Nausicaa) consistently rank among my top films of all time, and I've never let a friend have a little kid without me sending them a copy of My Neighbor Totoro as a gift (usually accompanied by a copy of Godzilla's Revenge, as both should be required viewing for any wide-eyed and adventurous kid who needs to be brought up proper)."---"The movie is set in magical Miyazaki-Land. Drawing on fairytales and Japanese misconceptions about what it must be like in Europe, the world of Castle of Cagliostro is all twisting medieval roads, rolling green fields, glittering lakes, crumbling ruins, and majestic Bavarian style castles. It's a dreamlike fairytale amalgamation of Europe past, present, and purely imagined, complete with a knight in shining armor (or at least in a garish seafoam green blazer), an usurper to the throne (or the fortune), and a damsel in distress who gets locked away in the tall tower of a castle." New UK Terrorism Plots

Wow,we are living in truly interesting and frightening times. "MI5 knows of 30 terror plots threatening the UK and is keeping 1,600 individuals under surveillance, the security service's head has said."---"Dame Eliza Manningham-Buller warned the threat was "serious" and "growing".---"Mr Blair also said he agreed with Dame Eliza's comments that the terrorist threat would last for a generation.

"I've been saying, as you know, for several years that this terrorist threat is very real, it's been building up over a long period of time.

"It's not just in this country, as we've seen recently from incidents in India, France, other parts of the world. This is a threat that has grown up over a generation."

Denise Richards paparazzi debacle

It is reported that Denise Richards almost took out two poor elderly women today.--" The actress was accused of hurling two laptops from a balcony at the River Rock Casino and Hotel on Wednesday, hitting two elderly women below.

The incident occurred after two photographers tried to snap pictures of Richards by gaining unauthorized access to the set where she's filming a movie with actress Pamela Anderson.

The 90-and 81-year-old women were sitting in the lobby when the computers hit them on their arms, causing minor injuries."

Al Qaeda New Threats..

Al Qaeda threats
Scary stuff here folks. Reuters reports "A purported audio recording by the leader of Iraq's al Qaeda wing gloated over the resignation of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, as a top U.S. general said the military was preparing to recommend strategy changes.

Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said in the recording posted on the Internet on Friday that the group had 12,000 armed fighters and 10,000 others waiting to be equipped to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.

"I tell the lame duck (U.S. administration) do not rush to escape as did your defense minister...stay on the battle ground," he said."---""I swear by God we shall not rest from jihad until we...blow up the filthiest house known as the White House," the voice on the recording said."

" Russian authorities have refused to license the "Borat" comedy film that has taken US box offices by storm over fear it would offend audiences here, The Moscow Times daily reported.

Their statement was as follows: "there were some actions and behavior that took place on this last tour that was completely unacceptable and we feel that it would be best to just pull the plug on this thing. We had what we feel was a great run, we made a lot great friends on the road and would like to just remember it that way before things get worse internally" Thats too bad, these guys were good. Iraq cheers

Yahoo News reports: "As he, his half brother and another senior official in his regime were convicted and sentenced to death by the Iraqi High Tribunal, Saddam yelled out, "Long live the people and death to their enemies. Long live the glorious nation, and death to its enemies!" Later, his lawyer said the former dictator had called on Iraqis to reject sectarian violence and refrain from revenge against U.S. forces."---
"In the streets of Dujail, a Tigris River city of 84,000, people celebrated and burned pictures of their former tormentor as the verdict was read."---"The death sentences automatically go to a nine-judge appeals panel, which has unlimited time to review the case. Shakira won five of the six Latin Grammys for which she was nominated and held center stage throughout the ceremony at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Nuclear Power Wanted

Six more states have pronounced their want for nuclear technology. Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, UAE and Saudi Arabia. "The move, which follows the failure by the West to curb Iran’s controversial nuclear programme, could see a rapid spread of nuclear reactors in one of the world’s most unstable regions, stretching from the Gulf to the Levant and into North Africa." "Mark Fitzpatrick, an expert on nuclear proliferation at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said that it was clear that the sudden drive for nuclear expertise was to provide the Arabs with a “security hedge”.

“If Iran was not on the path to a nuclear weapons capability you would probably not see this sudden rush [in the Arab world],” he said. Read more at Timesline

BORAT

"This one I have to pay money for, but she worth it! Wow wow wee waa!"
Borat

Deadline Hollywood Daily reports: "All the box office guru predictions for this weekend went wrong. I'm told Fox's Borat, though playing in just 837 theaters, shocked the experts and became the No. 1 movie in the U.S. Friday. HBO cable funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen's spoof took in a staggering $8.9 million for what should be an opening weekend of as much as $25 million. (And some are starting to predict $30 mil!) Based on the anecdotal evidence pouring in to me about long lines at the box office, sold-out screenings, and fans driving more than an hour to find a theater showing the pic, I believe Borat was standing room only. I think the moviegoers weren't just rolling in the aisles, they were sitting in the aisles, for the film to make this much money."

BAD Brains..YeaAAAHHH! OOOKay!!

bad brains, lil jon

The influential hardcore/punk band BAD BRAINS, that formed in '77 has decided to work on a new album very shortly with its original members. How about some WIKIPEDIA trivia:
" * Henry Rollins, who had been personally encouraged by H.R. to become a singer himself – even to the point where H.R. would drag the young Rollins onstage and make him sing a song with the rest of the band, long before Rollins formed State of Alert or joined Black Flag – considered Bad Brains among the most important rock bands, and Dave Grohl stated that they were the "greatest live band ever". Rapper and hip-hop producer Lil Jon also considers the Brains among his favorite bands.

* Moby covered their song "Sailin' On" for the Never Give In: A Tribute to Bad Brains (1999, Century Media) tribute album to the band. Living Colour and No Doubt have also covered "Sailin' On".

* Dr. Know played additional guitar on the Coheed and Cambria song "Time Consumer" featured on the album The Second Stage Turbine Blade.

* Billy Corgan credits the Bad Brains combination of thrash and reggae as a primary influence for the Smashing Pumpkins hybrid of soft and loud music after attending a live show by the band in 1986. Years later the Pumpkins had the Bad Brains open for them for a show in Paris, which Corgan has cited as a highlight of his career.

* Ranked number 99 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock"."
